Código de Conducta para Reuniones y Eventos – III CAPLAC (English version below)

El III Congreso de Áreas Protegidas Latinoamericano y del Caribe (III CAPLAC) trabaja para promover un entorno inclusivo en sus reuniones de trabajo y eventos que sea profesional, respetuoso, y libre de acoso (incluyendo el acoso sexual, la intimidación y la discriminación de cualquier tipo) para todos lo(a)s participantes (incluyendo staff, voluntario(a)s, expositores,  proveedores de servicios, donantes, la prensa, e individuos del público en general). Con la colaboración de todos(as), se espera promover un ambiente seguro, colaborativo, solidario y productivo que valore la diversidad de opiniones, antecedentes y experiencias reflejadas entre esto(a)s participantes. Para ese fin, esperamos que lo(a)s participantes al Congreso cumplan con el siguiente Código de Conducta para el III CAPLAC: 

 

Comportamiento esperado:

  • Trate a todo(a)s con respeto y consideración.
  • Comuníquese de manera abierta y pensada con lo(a)s demás y sea considerado(a) con la multitud de opiniones que difieren de las suyas.
  • Sea respetuoso(a) en su discusión y crítica de las ideas ajenas. 
  • Alerte al personal del III CAPLAC si observa una situación potencialmente peligrosa o preocupante, alguien en peligro o destreza y/o algún comportamiento inaceptable. 
  • Respete las reglas y políticas de uso de todos los lugares asociados con el III CAPLAC. 
  • Respete y apoye el compromiso y las acciones del III CAPLAC para mejorar sus impactos ambientales y sociales, y promover la diversidad, la equidad y la inclusión.

 

Comportamientos inaceptables:

  • Delitos penales.
  • Participación o promoción de acoso, intimidación o comportamientos discriminatorios en la reunión / evento u otras actividades asociadas organizadas por el III CAPLAC.
  • Abuso abierto, sutil, físico, verbal o no verbal de cualquier participante, orador(a), voluntario(a), expositor(a), miembro del staff, proveedor(a) de servicios u otro(a) invitado(a) a la reunión o evento.
  • Interrupción de ponencias en la conferencia u otras actividades asociadas organizadas por el III CAPLAC.

 Los ejemplos de comportamiento inaceptable incluyen, entre otros, comentarios inapropiados relacionados con el género, la orientación sexual, la discapacidad, la apariencia física, el tamaño del cuerpo, la raza, la religión, o el origen nacional, entre otros; uso inapropiado de desnudos y/o imágenes sexuales en espacios públicos o presentaciones; avances sexuales inapropiados de cualquier índole; amenazas, acoso u hostigamiento (sexual o de otro tipo), discriminación o acoso hacia cualquier participante, orador(a), voluntario(a), expositor(a), miembro del staff o proveedor(a) de servicios.

 

Consecuencias:

  • Se espera que cualquier persona a quien se solicite detener un comportamiento inaceptable cumpla de inmediato. 
  • La Coordinación del III CAPLAC o los servicios de seguridad del lugar pueden tomar cualquier acción que se considere necesaria y apropiada, incluida la expulsión inmediata de la conferencia sin previo aviso ni reembolso. 
  • La Coordinación del III CAPLAC informará los delitos penales a las autoridades locales y se reserva el derecho de denunciar un posible delito cuando sea apropiado. 
  • La Coordinación del III CAPLAC se reserva el derecho de prohibir la asistencia de la persona ofensora a cualquier reunión futura.

 

Procedimiento para reportar un comportamiento inaceptable:

Si usted es sujeto(a) de un comportamiento inaceptable o ha sido testigo de tal comportamiento, siga inmediatamente estos pasos: 

  1. Retírese de la situación y busque un espacio seguro. En el caso de una emergencia médica o criminal, póngase en contacto con la seguridad de eventos y/o las autoridades locales de respuesta a emergencias. 
  2. En situaciones que no sean de emergencia, también tiene derecho a denunciar un delito (o posible delito) a la seguridad del evento y/o a las autoridades locales. 
  3. Envíe un correo electrónico a oficialseguridad@areasprotegidas-latinoamerica.org para reportar una situación de comportamiento inaceptable. Proporcione su nombre, información de contacto y una breve descripción del acontecimiento. Este mensaje se enviará de inmediato al Oficial de Seguridad del III CAPLAC que está capacitado(a) para manejar las violaciones del código de conducta con profesionalidad, sensibilidad y confidencialidad. 
  4. Todas las inquietudes relacionadas con un comportamiento inaceptable serán tratadas con seriedad y con prontitud. Los reclamantes mantendrán el control del proceso y el Oficial de Seguridad del III CAPLAC determinará las opciones disponibles para enfrentar la situación de manera rápida, efectiva y de la manera que el(la) reclamante considere más adecuada. 
  5. Dependiendo de la naturaleza del problema, se puede necesitar información adicional, seguridad adicional o atención de parte de la policía local para abordar la situación de manera adecuada.

Code of Conduct for Meetings and Events - III CAPLAC

 

The III Latin American and Caribbean Congress of Protected Areas (III CAPLAC) works to promote an inclusive environment in its meetings and events that is professional, respectful, and free from harassment (including sexual harassment, intimidation and discrimination of any kind) for all participants (including staff, volunteers, exhibitors, service providers, donors, the press, and individuals from the general public). With the collaboration of all participants, it is expected to promote a safe, collaborative, supportive and productive environment that values the diversity of opinions, backgrounds and experiences reflected among these participants. For that purpose, we hope that the participants to the Congress comply with the following Code of Conduct for the III CAPLAC:

 

Expected behavior:

  • Treat everyone with respect and consideration.
  • Communicate openly and thoughtfully with others and be considerate of the multitude of opinions that may differ from yours.
  • Be respectful in your discussion and criticism of the ideas of others.
  • Alert the staff of III CAPLAC if they observe a potentially dangerous or distressing situation, someone in danger or dexterity and / or some unacceptable behavior.
  • Respect the rules and policies of use of all the places associated with the III CAPLAC.
  • Respect and support the commitment and actions of the III CAPLAC to improve its environmental and social impacts, and promote diversity, equity and inclusion.

 

Unacceptable behavior:

  •  Criminal offenses,
  • Participation or promotion of harassment, intimidation or discriminatory behavior in the meeting / event or other associated activities organized by the III CAPLAC,
  • Open, subtle, physical, verbal or non-verbal abuse of any participant, speaker, volunteer, speaker, staff member, service provider or other guest at the meeting or event,
  • Interruption of presentations at the conference or other associated activities organized by the III CAPLAC.

 Examples of unacceptable behavior include, but are not limited to, inappropriate comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or national origin, among others; inappropriate use of nudity and / or sexual images in public spaces or presentations; inappropriate sexual advances of any kind; threats, harassment or harassment (sexual or otherwise), discrimination or harassment towards any participant, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, staff member or service provider.

 

Consequences:

  • Anyone who is requested to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.
  • The CAPLAC III Coordination or local security services can take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate expulsion from the conference without prior notice or reimbursement.
  • The Coordination of the III CAPLAC will report the criminal offenses to the local authorities and reserves the right to report a possible crime when appropriate.
  • The Coordination of the III CAPLAC reserves the right to prohibit the attendance of the offending person to any future meeting.

 

Procedure to report unacceptable behavior:

 If you are the subject of unacceptable behavior or have witnessed such behavior, follow these steps immediately:

  1. Withdraw from the situation and find a safe space. In the event of a medical or criminal emergency, contact the security staff and/or the local emergency response authorities.
  2. In non-emergency situations, you also have the right to report a crime (or possible crime) to the security staff and/or to local authorities.
  3. Send an email to oficialseguridad@areasprotegidas-latinoamerica.org to report an unacceptable behavior situation. Provide your name, contact information and a brief description of the event. This message will be sent immediately to the Security Officer of the III CAPLAC who is qualified to handle violations of the code of conduct with professionalism, sensitivity and confidentiality.
  4. All concerns related to unacceptable behavior will be dealt with seriously and promptly. The claimants will maintain control of the process and the Security Officer of the III CAPLAC will determine the options available to face the situation quickly, effectively and in the manner that the claimant considers most appropriate.
  5. Depending on the nature of the problem, additional information, additional security or attention from the local police may be needed to address the situation adequately.
